A two-hour journey in a hostile landscape of your soul

No running. No Czech. No explanation. Just feelings today.

Our lives have undoubtedly been driven by a superior power. Regardless of where you believe it comes from, what it is like, what it feels like, how much it alters our own decisions and guides us on our paths.

Recently I'd been thinking about how to handle some things in my life and got to the point when I realized I should get back to my old love, music. Or some other kind of arts. But playing the piano would be a bit complicated right now. Drawing is too passive. And then I was listening to some new songs by Florence and came across this video. And it hit me. Oh my, there is a thing I gave up a long long time ago that used to make me feel so good. And then I remembered how much pleasure it brings you to let every single cell of your body be filled with the vibrations and start moving to the rhythm... I shared this thought with L.: Thinking of dancing a lot these days, actually... and there it came - she'd just got an invitation in her e-mail box to some kind of short dancing workshop/ lab the next day. And there was still a chance to sign up, so I did. When I told another friend the name of it, he went like: You serious? What do you think it could be like? You sure it's just the right thing for you? Yeah, if you sign up for something named Volcanic movements, you really have to be... crazy? Isn't that just what I am, sometimes? And sometimes you simply have to get out of your comfort zone and confront yourself with something... how to describe it? Crazy? Strange? Weird? Uncomfortable? Or just something that "feels right"?

So then you come there. Small group, 5 people plus the lecturer. She's a beautiful young lady, full of energy. And you get to know why this all. Why "Volcanic movements" and why she is so full of that all - she's just got back from the amazing Fuerteventura island. Sounds familiar, you start to become interested. She sets up the music and starts with breathing. Then you focus on the core. On the energy in your core. And you try to transform it and spread it gradually into the tiniest cells in your body. And then the imagination part starts.

Lie down on the ground. Imagine you are in a place where there's nothing but rocks, rough and dirty surface, volcanoes, sun is shining, strong wind blowing, you maybe hear the distant sound of the ocean, the power of the waves breaking at the bottom of the cliffs, you can smell the salt and maybe even the sulphur in the air. You are lying on the rough ground and you try to imprint every single spot of your body into the rock and the dirt. Music is playing, you are moving on the surface and feeling the power of the earth beneath you. Every cell of your body is filled with this primal feeling of merging with the ground. You have never been to that place, yet you remember the pictures you have seen, you remember talking and dreaming about that place and you are lying there, moving slowly, then with a bit more energy, and suddenly tears come into your eyes as you realize that you actually are there, where you have been so many times in your dreams, where your soul is dwelling, where nothing else but the pure essence of being matters and you and the earth are one, as well as the air, water and fire. (which makes me think of my favourite movie, The Fifth Element, btw. :))))

And that is just beginning. There are more imaginations and improvisations to come, you bow, you creep, you jump, run, toss and turn and then lie down again, you cut off the outer world, you focus only on your breath, your body and the image of the place. You dance alone, in a group, then as a couple, trying to feel your own energy as well as the energy of the others and more images emerge in your head. You are standing on the top of a mountain, high above the sea, watching the vast ocean, the breaking waves, the wind is blowing, the power is so strong that it almost blows you away, but you are there, standing tall, with your arms stretched out, embracing the power of the elements and trying to absorb it all into your core. The tears have dried, you are smiling and you almost want to scream all the energy out, let the volcano explode, if only you were alone there... Your journey to the land you'd maybe never see again has just become real.

And you go back, not home, but to a place where you can be alone for a while, to absorb and go through it all again and you try to remember all the good feelings and images you've experienced today.

To be honest, I wouldn't be able to set off for such a journey any time, I'm not that big dreamer, rather a realist. But from time to time, it is good to explore this part of your true self. And this has been one of the opportunities for me that came just in the right time to take me out of the real world for a while and to remind me of who I am inside.

Dunno why, but a song that one of my friends posted on FB the other day has been resonating in my head ever since:
